April 2009,
I went to see the traditional Daoist festival performers
paraded the streets on Mazu's birthday.
"Mazu" is god who protects the people work or
travel on the sea.
I often heard about its legends when I was little
but it was the first time I actually saw this festival's
parade.
In fact, after long-term stay in Paris,
I felt strangely uneasy in front of this typical vernacular
culture of Taiwanese society.
I therefore wanted to record the scene
for this extraordinary experience.
